Chyna Cho was a full ride scholarship swimmer at San Jose State. In 2009, she suffered a knee injury that led to three surgeries. Chyna started CrossFit in late 2009 to rehab her knee and get back into shape after gaining a lot of weight. Chyna obtained her CrossFit Level One Trainer Certificate in 2010 and started her CrossFit coaching career at CrossFit Unlimited. That same year, she qualified for the CrossFit Games and finished 18th. Chyna returned to the CrossFit Games in 2014 and finished in 15th. In 2015, Chyna finished 6th place at the CrossFit Games and was the highest placing American female. Later in the year, she was a member of the USA Team that won the CrossFit Invitational against teams from Europe, Canada, and the Pacific regions. Chyna qualified for the CrossFit Games again in 2016, but a severe ankle sprain in the first workout hindered her performance for the rest of the competition. She ended up finishing 17th. During her CrossFit journey, Chyna has also participated in Olympic weightlifting and appeared in both the USAW American Open and USAW Nationals weightlifting meets. Chyna and her husband, Freddy Camacho, became co-owners at CrossFit of Fremont in July of 2014. Chyna writes all the programming for CrossFit of Fremont and coaching group sessions is her passion.
Jeff was born and raised in Fremont and has played sports his whole life. He graduated from Washington High School in 1998 and was the captain of his basketball and baseball teams. After high school, Jeff started his fitness career as a trainer in 1999 both at Schoeber's Athletic Club in Fremont and 24 Hour Fitness in Newark and has been doing it ever since. Over the past 15 years, Jeff has been a trainer, trainer elite, head trainer, manager, and owner.
In 2001, Jeff moved to Tempe, Arizona to continue his training and to go to school. This is where he was introduced to CrossFit in 2006 and fell in love with its training and principles. Jeff was part of the first CrossFit gym in Arizona, CrossFit Southwest in Tempe. Jeff got to train under Ken Urakawa, his friend and one of the smartest trainers he has ever met. In 2008, Jeff became a part owner of CrossFit Southwest so he could learn how different a CrossFit gym is from a regular commercial gym. The experience enabled him to envision his dream of opening his own gym.
Jeff moved back to the Bay Area in 2009 for the opportunity to be able to open the FIRST CrossFit in Fremont. He opened his dream gym in March 2010 and was very proud to be able to bring CrossFit to his home town. In 2014, CrossFit of Fremont had grown to a size that forced Jeff to move from the original location in Fremont to a larger location in Newark.
Jeff gets to do what he loves day in and day out and also help his family and friends in the process. Jeff has completed the CrossFit Level One Course, CrossFit Olympic Weight Lifting Coach, CrossFit Gymnastics Coach, CrossFit Kids Coach, CrossFit Football, National Academy of Sports and Medicine CPT, and National Strength and Conditioning Association/Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
Freddy discovered CrossFit in early 2006. He obtained his CrossFit Level One Trainer certificate in the late spring that year and that summer, Freddy started the 89th CrossFit affiliate, CrossFit One World (there are now over 13,000 CrossFit affiliates). Freddy went on to obtain his CrossFit Level Two Certificate and was a member of the CrossFit HQ Level One and Level Two training staffs. In 2007, Freddy participated in the first ever CrossFit Games and finished in 11th place at 41 years old. Since then, Freddy has appeared in the CrossFit Games in 2008, 2009 (team), 2011 (45-49 Masters), 2012 (45-49 Masters), and 2015 (50-54 Masters), and 2016 (50-54 Masters).
Freddy and his wife, Chyna Cho, became co-owners at CrossFit of Fremont in July of 2014. Freddy is also a sergeant with the Union City Police Department. At UCPD, he is a former assistant team leader with the SWAT Tactical Team, the former team leader for the SWAT Sniper Team, and a former defensive tactics instructor. Freddy is a Level Two Krav Maga instructor and has won gold medals in boxing in both the California Police and Fire Games and the World Police and Fire Games.
Thomas graduated from American High School. He played water polo and swam throughout high school. In 2014 during his senior year of high school, Thomas discovered CrossFit and instantly fell in love with it. For Thomas, the community and the training environment was incomparable to anything else he had experienced. Thomas has competed in a few local competitions and currently training with the goal to one day make it to the CrossFit Games Regional Qualifier. Thomas worked at Fitness 19 as a personal trainer, but he felt out of place the entire time he was employed there. Thomas obtained his CrossFit Level One Certificate in early 2015 and never looked back! Thomas is currently NCCPT certified and CrossFit Level One certified.
Mike grew up playing competitive sports. Mike discovered Crossfit in early 2010 and instantly fell in love with it. His first workout was Fran with 135 pound thrusters and strict pull-ups. Upon completing the workout, the first words out of his mouth were, “I nearly died.” Since then, Mike has been on a journey to better himself as a both a CrossFit athlete and coach. He is currently training with a goal to be a CrossFit Games competitor.
Mike has completed his CrossFit Level One and his CrossFit Strongman courses. He loves to compete, but he also thoroughly enjoys coaching group training sessions at CrossFit of Fremont. Mike believes CrossFit is the best fitness program on the planet and gets great satisfaction watching people improve and do things they never thought they could possibly do. Besides coaching at CrossFit of Fremont, Mike also coaches at NorCal CrossFit.
Andrew discovered CrossFit in 2010 and was instantly hooked. When he started he took 18 consecutive days of CrossFit classes before learning the importance of rest days. Andrew’s favorite part of CrossFit is training in a group setting where everyone is pushing you harder than you would ever push yourself. Andrew believes that for most people, CrossFit will get you in the best shape of your life and you’ll meet some of the coolest people along the way. Andrew has completed his CrossFit Level One and a CrossFit Olympic Lifting Courses.
Anhtoan joined the CrossFit of Fremont coaching staff in 2015. He is one of two coaches on staff who has both his CrossFit Level One and Level Two certificates. Anhtoan squeezes in coaching and training between his duties as a member of the United States Air Force.
Alex first discovered CrossFit through a chiropractor in 2009 and used it to get in shape for wrestling. Since then he has obtained his Level 1 Certificate in 2011, attended weightlifting seminars with world class athletes and coaches, competed with success in many competitions including his role as team member with his former Colorado gym “Wild Horizons CrossFit” at the 2014 southwest regionals. Alex has over 3 years of coaching experience and values wellness and believes that exercise vastly improves personal and public health. As a future chiropractor, he shows passion for maximizing the potential of the human body and wants to help you achieve your fitness goals, while watching you grow in the process.
